Indonesian telecom services provider Indostat has just announced they are teaming up with Sony Ericsson and BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion to offer BlackBerry Connect on Sony Ericsson's latest M600i mobile phone in Indonesia.

"We are working with Sony Ericsson and RIM to provide customers with a broader choice of handsets that can leverage the unique strengths and reliability of the proven BlackBerry platform," Wahyu Wijayadi, Marketing Director of Indosat, said in a statement.

Which I guess, is what people do when they make statements..

"With the successful launch of BlackBerry Connect on the P910 last year, we are confident that the new Sony Ericsson M600i with BlackBerry Connect will be well-received in the market."

BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion says that the new Sony Ericsson P990 (at right) and M600 phones will support the BlackBerry Connect push email platform. 

Both phones  run on the enhanced Symbian OS version 9.1 platform.

In addition to BlackBerry Connect, BlackBerry Enterprise Server capabilities will also be offered on these devices. Both RIM and Sony Ericsson say these features will include wireless calendar synchronization; remote look-up of corporate email address directory; triple DES encryption; and IT policy enforcement and commands (such as disabling or even wiping a stolen device clean).

No pricing info yet, but we do know that both the Sony Ericsson P990 and the Sony Ericson M600 phones are expected to be released sometime in the second quarter of this year.

I'd bet late April or early May.

AirtelAirtel, a New Delhi, India-based mobile service provider with more than 13 million
customers, says it will expand its portfolio by introducing BlackBerry Connect to three devices it currently offers.

These devices are the Nokia 9500 Communicator, Nokia 9300 smartphone and Sony Ericsson P910i. The two Nolia and one Sony Ericcson product join Airtel's existing BlackBerry portfolio, which includes the BlackBerry 7100g and BlackBerry 7290.

Mr. Manoj Kohli, President Mobility,  announced, "Email continues to be a key communication medium and research indicates that the first application most mobile users like to see integrated into their mobile phones is their email," Bharti Tele-Ventures Ltd.President Mobility Manoj Kohli says in a statement.

"A constantly widening group of mobile professionals have already recognized the productivity benefits of BlackBerry," he added. "Our announcement today of extending the BlackBerry service to a much wider range of new and stylish mobile phone handsets allows us to address the needs of a broader target group of mobile users, thereby further catalyzing the adoption and usage of BlackBerry in India."

Sony Ericsson 910iAustralian mobile services provider Optus, Sony Ericsson and BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion announced the availability of the new Sony Ericcson P910i smartphone with BlackBerry Connect.

"With the new offer, consumers can enjoy a range of Optus' services on the easy-to-use P910i device," Optus Consumer group director of products and delivery Chris Lane said today in a statement. "These services include an expansive mobile network, easy broadband Internet usage and interactive content with the Optus Zoo portal."

RIM LogoOn the eve of Monday's Annual Shareholder's Meeting, BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion's stock price was down slightly in U.S. trading, but trended a bit upward in Canadian swapping.

Although this inconclusiveness does not happen all that often it was not surprising. Especially, considering that investors are probably waiting for some big annoucements or other transforming news to come out of the meeting. The confab starts at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, and will be webcast live.

Until then, and in light of a slow summer Friday, here's how things went:

Nasdaq (RIMM)- $72.27 a share, down 43 cents (-0.59%) from Thursday's $72.70 a share closing price.

Toronto Stock Exchange (RIM)- $88.48 (CDN) a share, up 64 cents from Thursday's $87.84 (CDN) a share final result.

SE910iSony Ericsson 910i users in the Phillipines now have BlackBerry Connect service through Globe Telecom.

Subscribers will, of course, also get attachment viewing capability via the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

No pricing info on the Globe Telecom site, but you can expect this data soon.

That's because BlackBerry Cool reports that a reader has notified them T-Mobile Austria has updated their BlackBerry Connect client for the Sony Ericsson P910i.

As you probably know, BlackBerry Connect facilitates BlackBerry push email to non-BlackBerry devices. The Siemens SK-65 and the MDA II  also run BlackBerry Connect.

SonyEriccson P910iBlackBerry Connect has come to yet another phone in another nation.

Today, Singapore-based mobile communications access provider SingTel said that BlackBerry Connect's push-based email service is now available on their line of Sony Ericsson P910i smart phones.

As smart phones go, the P910i is one of the more powerful and flexible devices: a 262K touch screen as well as gaming, video and digital photo capabilities better than most competing models.

SingTel is offering the P910i for S$988.00 with a two-year contract. That converts to around $599 U.S.

NETCOM Insignia

The U.S. Army's Network Enterprise Technology Command is the Army's central resource for wireless device and services.

They've just given their blessing to BlackBerry in a most significant way, writing a one-year contract with CDW Government Inc. for a whole bunch of wireless devices and peripherals including you know what.

The BlackBerry devices that are part of the order are loaded for bear. These Java-operated BB's (model numbers not yet available) meet Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 for securing sensitive but unclassified data. They also cme with smart-card readers from a company called Appriva.

Total cost of the deal was not announced, but is believed to be less than $5 million.
