Mai oui: Flowfinity announces French laguage BlackBerry support

On Tuesday, wireless enterprise solutions developer Flowfinity Wireless Inc., announced the availability of French support in its wireless smart client (the Flowfinity Client) for BlackBerry/.

Now, all menus and on-screen user prompts are also available in French.

Given that French is one of the two national laguages in BlackBerry-maker Reearch In Motion's home country of Canada, this is not an insignificant development.

Flofinity terms the significance in two ways:

1. In Canada, companies or government organizations can now access and use Flowfinity Applications in the official language of their choice.

2. Companies in France, whether headquartered there or with branch offices of multi-national companies doing business there, can now use Flowfinity Applications in French.

BeamBerry Now Available For Your BlackBerry

What is BeamBerry?

BeamBerry Solutions allow you to print, view, and store email attachments with your BlackBerry.

There are three parts, BeamView, BeamPrint, and BeamDisk.

BeamView lets you view pdf and office documents right on your BlackBerry, and even works on older BlackBerrys.

BeamPrint lets you print documents from your BlackBerry on a bluetooth printer.

BeamDisk allows you to save your attachment in folders just like you do on your PC.

Best of all right now you can try the program out for free. However right now the Pearl service is not available, but the website says it will be soon.

Slingbox On BlackBerry Sooner Than We Think?

Remember back on the 27th I pointed to an article that suggested Slingbox would not have BlackBerry support anytime soon? This was based on comments made at CES.

I just came across a post on Pinstack that might suggest that Slingbox is interested in BlackBerry support.

N8DBB was checking out what jobs Slingbox had open on their website. Sadly there was no posting for RIM developer, but something to make BlackBerry owners who have a Slingbox get interested.

Happy Birthday Opera Mini!

Can you believe that Opera Mini browser has only been around for a year?

Of course Opera Mini has gone through some changes over the past year. Google is no longer the default search engine, Yahoo is. We have even had a beta, and a new version with bells and whistles.

According to Opera Mini's birthday site over 10 million people have tried it. I know I am one of them.

As a BlackBerry user Opera Mini is best at loading the websites that the BlackBerry browser can't, like My Space.

If you have an idea for an original birthday card send it in to Opera. Opera will post the top 5 and the first 1000 entered will get an Opera wrist wrap.

Slingbox Not Expected To Work On BlackBerrys Anytime Soon

I have been asked a few times and come across questions about Slingbox support on BlackBerrys on Pinstack. I just came across a blog that mentions asking about BlackBerry support at CES.

Slingbox advised they are aware of consumer interest, but the blogger could not determine if there was something being tested or not.

What is known is Slingbox is beta testing Palm and Symbian versions. What is up with the lack of BlackBerry love?

Slingbox gives you control of your TV using the internet, either a PC or a mobile phone with its software on it. As it has never supported BlackBerrys I have never tried it.

Oh those scantily clad BlackBerry beach volleyball models

Hey there from a place really, really close to a subtropical beach. Rather than in my customary Pacific Northwest ocean hangout, I am at the Atlantic. Whilst (not a Brit, just love that word whilst, heh heh) I prefer the Pacific, here the beaches are warmier and sandier.

Sandy enough to bear witness to beach volleyball. But it is not only here where the game is played.

You can play beach volleyball on your BlackBerry. That'd be via RESETGames' Beach Volleyball for BlackBerry.

Wanna see pic?

Then clic.

Digby Available For BlackBerrys

What is Digby?

Digby is an application that allows you to find, browse, and buy all sorts of cool stuff. You will find products from FTD.com, Godiva, and Vermont Teddy Bear to name a few.

Digby even interfaces with your BlackBerry to set up alerts for events like birthdays and holidays. It can use the information in your address book to make sure the item gets to the right place.

Digby includes categories like books, flowers, DVDs, and jewelry.

Digby works on BlackBerry models 8700, 8703, 8705, 7130, and 8100. It is available for download over the air at www.digby.com/download.

I am going to download it myself to check out. Click on the Read link below for more details on Digby.

JiveTalk IM Beta Available To Try

Checking out Pinstack I came across a post about a new instant message application for BlackBerrys called JiveTalk. I am always excited to try out a new instant message application.

This is actually an updated version of the application. One of the suggestions users had first go round was to have customizable notifications. This new version includes the ability to configure vibrate, sound, and LED notifications.

I always love to see a program use the feedback they ask for to make changes to their applications.

The program can be downloaded over the air or using a PC. Just remember it is a beta version, so bugs are expected and the developer asks for them to be reported.

Wine reference site now BlackBerry-enabled

I drink wine, and use a BlackBerry. Usually not at the same time, but I find both wine-drinking and BlackBerry use to be positive enablements.

You too?

Salud.

If so, you may be interested to learn that the wine reference site Winezap now has a BlackBerry-compatible version.

Everything you would want to know about wine regions, type, food pairing, price and user ratings.

Just don't spill any wine on your BlackBerry keys, K?

BlackBerry Tattoos Now Available

Does your BlackBerry need a makeover?

Want something a little different to make sure your screen stands out?

Then BlackBerry Tattoos Volume 1 might be exactly what you need.

It is now available on Handango for $19.99, $17.99 for club members.

Volume 1 includes 12 painting that are cropped and optimized for the BlackBerry. They are all done by professional tattoo artist Daniel Albrigo.

The install is done over the air using a URL that is provided after the purchase, so you will need data to get these pictures.

FonPods - Podcasts Available On Your BlackBerry

Pinstack Stack Pro N8DBB just posted about FonPods, which is still in beta.

FonPods allows you to listen to podcasts using your BlackBerry, or any phone. All you have to do is call their number and you can listen to a variety of podcasts.

If you want to personalize your selection you can sign up for an account which requires your phone number and email. Then when you call in you can listen to the programming you want.

And it works even if you call in from another phone. You just have to enter in your password.

This will use your phone minutes, not data. However if you have MyFaves on T-Mobile you can set the FonPods number as a favorite and all the calls will be free.

Let us know what you think if you try it out.

RIM takes "the Lotus position"

At the Lotusphere show in Orlando yesterday, BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion demonstrated several new software and services compatible with IBM Lotus Samtime's IM and collaboration package, and with Lotus Domino as well.

These are Convert to Call, Click to Map and Domino Discussion and Databases.

I know you won't want to start your day without knowing the basics of each, so come along now, would'ya?

Ascendo Photos V2.6 Now Available

Ascendo just announced over on Pinstack there is a new version of Ascendo Photos now available, version 2.6. It is available on Handango for $29.95.

There have been improvements to the thumbnail views, additional icons to associate with your galleries, and address integration when sending your pictures via email.

If that isn't enough when you buy Ascendo photos it now comes with Theme Pack for BlackBerry, a $9.95 when purchased separately.

Also included are three photos from Photo Pack by Scott Roush. The full 50 photo pack is $19.95.

As a side note Ascendo is offering a free copy of the program if you are a native speaker of French or Italian and translate their product description on a first come basis.

Here's an iPhone BlackBerry theme

One of BlackBerry Cool's readers has just made an iPhone BlackBerry theme.

That's it at the top of this post.

What do you think?

US Patent And Copyright Laws Guide Avilable For BlackBerry

I had a giggle when I found this under What's New on Handango's website.

US Patent, Copyright, and Trademark Laws Quick Study Guide from MobileReference is now available. It is $9.99 regular price, $8.99 for Club Handango members.

You can search for words or phrases, add bookmarks, add text annotation and mark-ups.

The information automatically synchronizes with your PC, allowing you to read on the BlackBerry or PC and transfer your annotations between the two.

With all the various lawsuits involving RIM and other similar devices, maybe this is something they should all download on their BlackBerrys.
