Then I put it up here, with a total of ten screen grabs I think you will want to see. That's the first one at the top of this post

One BlackBerry user's three-hour T-Mobile customer service ordeal

My friend and fellow blogger Andy Abramson writes of his major hassles getting T-Mobile to switch him to someone at RIM that could help him with problems on his BlackBerry 7230.

Difficulties such as disappeared downloaded messages, buggy attachment reading capabilities, non-functional SMS.

Andy (that's him on the right) wanted to fix these issues because he's planning to get a BlackBerry Pearl and give the 7230 to his assistant.

But easier said than done.

BlackBerry Tech Center # 6: BlackBerry 7210, BlackBerry 7230, and BlackBerry 7280 Safety Information Booklet

Time to pick up on our new BBHub daily feature called BlackBerry Support Document of the Day.

Every week, the BlackBerry Technical Knowledge Center lists their 25 most viewed documents for that week.

Every day, starting from #1, we've been identifying a document on this list.

The current #6 is BlackBerry 7210, BlackBerry 7230, and BlackBerry 7280 Safety Information Booklet. Let's check it out.

You'll find information about Antenna Care, operating and storage temperatures (as shown above), electronic equipment that could evoke reception interference issues, dangerous areas you don't want to go to with your BlackBerry, what type of repairs you should not attempt, radio signal exposure risks, and absorption rate data.

Roadpost offers Europe-compliant BlackBerry rental

Traveling overseas with your BlackBerry?

If your BlackBerry is non-GSM it won't work in Europe.

Well, necessity is the mother of work-arounds, and services that, in turn, make those workaround easier.

Take for instance Roadpost. This company rent internationally compliant BlackBerry 7230s. The $129 weekly rental fee ($10 more for each day after the first week) covers unlimited Internet access and email. Incoming and outgoing call rates are based on the nation(s) where you will use your rental BlackBerry.

Also included in the rental fee, you get adapters, a USB connecting cable, business cards for your contacts, and a prepaid courier pack for returning the 7230 when you are back in the U.S.A. or Canada.

If you get one of their rental units, you just synch your data from your "regular" BlackBerry to your rental device.

Gartner: BlackBerry shipments grew 52.6 in 3Q

BlackBerry 7270According to research firm Gartner, BlackBerry PDA shipments grew by 52.6 percent in the third quarter of 2005.

Insofar as what Garnter terms a "PDA," they set the standard as a data-centric handheld computer designed for use with both hands, equipped with instant on-off capability and a variety of third-party applications.

That covers the BlackBerry 7200 series (like the 7270 you see over there) but not the 7100, which is more like a cellphone.

Insofar as leading operating system vendors, Microsoft leads with 49.2 percent of worldwide shipments. BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion is second with 25 percent, followed by Palm OS with 14.9. Symbian and Linux brought up the rear.

UK-based BlackBerry carrier O2 selling to Telefonica

TelefonicaWith more than 145 million landline and mobile customers in Europe, Latin America and Africa, Madrid, Spain-based Telefónica S.A. is one of the world's largest mobile, Internet and landline access providers.

Today, Telefónica is announcing it is acquiring  U.K.-based O2 - the wireless business that was spun off by BT (formerly Birtish Telecom) in 2001. O3 has 24.6 million subscribers in the UK, Ireland, and Germany. Purchase price is about $31 billion U.S.

O2 currently carries four BlackBerry models- the BlackBerry 7730, BlackBerry 7290, BlackBerry 7230, and BlackBerry 7100x. That roster, plus O2's service plans, should not change as a result of the acquisition.

Both companies say that O2's current management will continue to operate the business, which will retain its brand and its headquarters in the UK.

T-Mobile BlackBerry website access issues reported

BlackBerry 7290 browserToday, I have been fielding a few comments from T-Mobile BlackBerry-users/BBHub readers that its been impossible to log on to the section of the T-Mobile website where you manage your BlackBerry service.

I've checked some of the other BlackBerry boards and there doesn't seem to be reports of this problem. But someone has to report it first.

So what I am asking you T-Mobile BlackBerry users is: "have any of you had problems logging in to the site today?

If yes, I wonder if any of this has to do with issues surrounding Handheld Software Version 4.0 4.49, a 31 MB file which was just posted in the T-Mobile BlackBerry Upgrade section of the T-Mobile site..

When Irish BlackBerry user eyes are smiling

Eithne FitzpatrickEithne Fitzpatrick is managing director of the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Killiney, Dublin.

You can't get too much more Irish than that.

"It's changed my life," Fitzpatrick tells Ireland-based online technology site SiliconRepublic.com's Ian Campbell about her BlackBerry 7230.

A "technophobe," Fitzpatrick says she first was turned on to BlackBerry by her brother 18 months ago after he came back from a trip to the U.S.

"Being able to action email on the road is a huge stress reliever," Fitzpatrick tells Campbell. "Customer service and retention is vital in my business and it's important that you stay ahead of the competition."

As to the BlackBerry 7230 itself, I got a kick out of Campbell's description of the device: "a curvaceous piece of it."

T-Mobile USA BlackBerry users now almost 600,000

BlackBerry 7100tAccording to T-Mobile's latest quarterly financial report just released today, the T-Mobile USA wireless service had a net gain of 92,000 BlackBerry customers in the second quarter of this year.

As of June 30, T-Mobile USA had 594,000 total BlackBerry users. Three months prior, that number was 502,000.

T-Mobile's signature BlackBerry products, and the after-rebate prices for all these on the T-Mobile website are:

  • BlackBerry 7100t- $199.99 (shown above);
  • BlackBerry 7290-  $349.99
  • BlackBerry 7230-  $299.99

T-Mobile's website is still offering the older, black-and-white screen BlackBerry 6230. With a $200.00 discount off the nominal retail price of $249.99, sounds like T-Mobile is really trying to get rid of this increasingly obsolete model.

BlackBerry 7290 and BlackBerry 7230.

National Tire & Battery offers free BlackBerry

BlackBerry 7100tAre you ready to re-tire?

If so, you might be interested to learn about a new free BlackBerry offer from National Tire & Battery.

If you buy any four new passenger or light truck tires, yo'll receive a free BlackBerry 7100t or BlackBerry 7230 from T-Mobile. Of course you have to sign up for a T-Mobile plan.

The offer is good for tire purchases through August 31.

The NTB Web site says that you have to initiate the offer by "September 31," but I don't think sooo..."30 days has September, April, June and November"- remember?
