Looks like Verizon subscribers who do not have a text package are going to see text message costs increase.Starting March 1st a pay as you go text will cost 15 cents, a 5 cent increase.
Cingular, now AT&T, and Sprint have also increased their text message rates from 10 to 15 cents. T-Mobile has left their text message costs alone, still at 10 cents a message.
The idea is to get customers to sign up for a monthly plan of text messages instead of the pay as you go method. Hopefully you already have the message bundle, and have nothing to worry about.

1. It's terrible that these carriers keep increasing their text message rates. I found this great service from a company called ipipi. Their website is ipipi.com. They offer really low text messaging rates and they also offer international text messaging for the exact same low rates. You can pay as you go or even buy a plan. Both of which will cost you far less than other carriers. I have sprint but I get my text service from ipipi. You can even get texts on the computer if you dont want to get them on your phone. I love the service, it's great and it's very affordable.
