Ever wonder what a "Donaldson acoustic membrane vent" is?
Sounds kind of science-tech. Well matter of fact it is. This is a technology that allows for transmission of sound from handheld devices while keeping the case sealed.
In this, uh, case, the cases we are talking about are the new OtterBox 1930 and 1931.
Just received an email from them, noting that these cases are now available for the BlackBerry 87xx series (1930) and the 72xx family (1931).
Specs, pricing and pic available after the jump.

Dimensions for the OtterBox 1930 (which is available now and which I am showing you at right) are 4.85 in [123 mm] long by 3.36 in [85 mm] wide and 1.46 in [37 mm] thick (not including latch) or 1.73 in [44 mm] thick (including latch). Case weighs 0.5 lb [.23 kg].
The OtterBox 1931 (available soon) measures 4.85 in [123 mm] long by 3.60 in [85 mm] wide and 1.54 in [37 mm] thick (not including latch) or 1.80 in [44 mm] thick (including latch). Case weighs 0.5 lb [.23 kg].
As a side thought, dang am I metrically challenged. I realize the rest of the world does meters and kilograms but not me.
Oh, and the prices? $129.95 for each. But still cheaper than buying a new BlackBerry if your existing flimsy case fails at the protection racket.
