Jane was working alone in the newsroom on Halloween, when her BlackBerry flashed an urgent message -- HELP ME! "This must be a joke," Jane thought. "Someone is just trying to scare me." But she decided to respond. "Who are you? What can I do to help you?" The response sent a chill down her spine . . .
The response said, "I know where you are and I am coming to get you!" Jane still thought it was still a practical joke so she put her BlackBerry in her pocket.
She realized her shift was over so she went to open the door, but it was locked. When she went to get her keys to unlock the door the room became dark because the lights had turned off.
Jane started to scream, "If you're trying to scare me it's working! Just come out!"
No one came, Jane knew this was no joke and started to hear someone breathing heavily. It kept on getting closer, Jane began to run ...
It gets scarier from here..What's this all about?Well, all of this took place in the creative imagination of Claudia Bolejszo, 12, a student at St. Dominic Savio in BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion's headquarters city of Waterloo, Ontario.
For her "Cry For Help" story you have just read the first parts of, Claudia has been named the 12-13 age group winner the Halloween Writing Contest organized by BlackBerry carrier Rogers Cable. Contestants were invited to write a story based on a title and opening paragraph provided by Cambridge, Ont. Mayor Doug Craig, Waterloo regional police Chief Larry Gravill, Waterloo Rangers hockey player Justin Azevedo and Waterloo Sun editor-in-chief Lynn Haddrall.
