Here's how to unlock the BlackBerry Pearl

Howard Forums Member cerious22 is seriously trying to unlock the Pearl. But for want of some mis-typed letters in the SIM Card (at right) menu, it would seem these efforts are meeting with a lack of success.

It's at this point that cerious22 seriously considered the next item..starting a thread to get some asnwers.

Ho-Fo'er ChrisDresller has the answer.

"In the SIM Card menu, you press m e p p d (no spaces)," he writes.

"Once you see the unlocking levels screen, you type m e p p (Alt + 2 to get the number 2). You won't see any text while you are typing either one of these."

Then you enter the unlock code.

Ceriou22 then comes back with a "bro thank you."

5. if you dont mind paying the $48USD, there is a guy on ebay selling the unlock code service (it takes 24 hours and he emails it back to you, all you need to do is give him your phone's IEMI number). Just do a search "unlock code blackberry pearl"...

7. I also could use some detailed info on unlocking the Pearl. I have my unlock code, and have not tried the directions

Ceriou22. These directions seem to be for someone who had a mis-printed sim card, are they the same directions for unlocking all Pearls, if so...
From the directions I'm inferring that I put my sim card in, then find "sim card menu" then put in m e p p d, then wait for unlocking level screen and put in m e p p then press alt +2 (I am assuming that there is a key marked alt on phone?), then put in unlock code.

1. Where's the sim card menu listed?
2. Should sim card be in when I unlock?
3. (Alt + 2 to get the number 2) Does this mean I press alt +2 in after putting in m e p p ?

8. Thanks for the postings guys...looks easy

I am doing my best to find the software these guys use to generate the unlock codes... Not that $40 is a problem its just become a mission now. Every other phone out there has some free software out somewhere.

I've got a T-mobile USA locked blackberry Pearl coming this afternoon and want to use it on Cingular.

Any ideas or links would be appreciated.

That's not an unlock code. . . that's a T-Mobile Sim number.

10. I currently have the Cingular 7130c blackberry but I managed to get my hands on the BB Pearl but I need to unlock it. I checked with T-Mobile and they will give you the SIM Unlock Code free but as you probably now you need to meet their eligibility requirements (I got this info from they website http://search.t-mobile.com/inquiraapp/ui.jsp?ui_mode=question&question_box=unlock

• T-Mobile can provide SIM Unlock Codes only for handsets sold by T-Mobile USA, with the exception of Danger Sidekick devices.
• T-Mobile can obtain SIM Unlock Codes for companies acquired by t-Mobile USA (VoiceStream, Aerial, Omnipoint, SOL, Digiph, PCS One, and Powertel).
• SIM Unlock Codes will only be provided after your account has been active for 90 days. Only one unlock code may be provided per customer every 90 days.
• No SIM Unlock Codes will be provided within the 14-Day Buyer's Remorse period. Customers who purchase phones in CA California or via Amazon.com are granted a 30-Day Buyer's Remorse Period.
• SIM Unlock Codes are not always available from the Manufacturer. However, T-Mobile will make a dedicated effort to obtain the SIM Unlock code. Note: Other restrictions may apply depending on account type.

I hope someone can find out other way to get the unlock code.

11. Cellularclinic@com unlocked my blackberry 8100r. no problem so what ever. i belive they can do all line of blackberry unlocking remotely.

13. I have a cingluar blackberry pearl that isnt in stores yet. It was given to me as a gift and I want to use it with my t-mobile sim card. I have the IMEI # but i dont know where i go in the phone to find the SIM info..HELP

Why does every one tell you how to gwt to the sceen to unlock the phone but no one will tell you the code to unlock the phone. does any one have the code? where can I find fhe code for free? dont need to know how to get to the unlocking sceen just need the code to unlock the phone can any one help or is this just to tell people how to get to the unlocking ssceen.
