Pinstack has gathered all the reported BlackBerry Pearl 8100 bugs on one page.
I link to the bugs page right below in the Read prompt just below this post. But here's a rundown of the Middle and Low risk bugs. I'll be posting the High risk bugs in a separate post.
BTW, High ratings are bugs with the potential for an OS crash, Medium is abnormal but no crash, and Low is colorfully described as "minor oddity."
Now for the descriptions:
LOW
- Ringer doesn't work in your pocket- Move the trackball, even inadvertently, and the ringer turns off.
- "File name is too long" error message- Shorten your file name to less than 256 characters. And, may I suggest switching to decaf?
MEDIUM
- Uncaught exception java.lang.NullPointer Exception- Pinstakcer sanjeefjoshi has a fix. Delete the module net_rim_tmo_five.cod from the core SW (sits in folder in the shared\loader files \8100xxx\java).
- First Date is changed to Due Date after the task is saved- No solution yet, but BlackBerry says they are working on it. Here's how they describe the problem.
- SDCard block length is unsupported- According to the BlackBerry Technical Knowledge Center, when a 2GB microSD memory card is inserted in a BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphone, the LCD screen on the BlackBerry Pearl will not turn on, and the red LED will blink continually. Reason: the BlackBerry Pearl supports memory cards with up to 1GB storage capacity
- Unable to synchronize a Contact entry without a name or company- Here's what the BlackBerry Technical Knowledge Center says. On the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphone, when you create a Contact entry without a name or company name, the Contact entry is not saved and the following error appears: Name or Company Name required! In Outlook, when you create a Contact entry without a name or company name, the following error appears:
The File As field for this contact is empty.
What did you do wrong? You may not have entered a name or company.
'If you want to save this contact with an empty File As field, click Yes and the Contact entry wukk saved.
Additionally, when you attempt to synchronize the Outlook Contact entry with the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphone, you receive the following error:
Unable to write or update application data
As a result, the Contact entry is not added to the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphone.
RIM has teams working on it.
