Cingular BlackBerry 8100c disappears from developer site: WHY??

On Friday we reported that the Cingular devCentral website had details about a Cingular BlackBerry 8100c. In fact, the information on the site pointed to an October, 2006 release.

I even made another post with the specs.

But guess what. Just tried the link to that devCentral article this a.m. The link no longer works, and the page has apparently been taken down.

There's three possibilities:

  • Somebody at RIM freaked that this info was on a public site, and instructed Cingular to take it down immediately.
  • Cingular realized the error of their ways, and took it down on their own.
  • The information- no camera in this 8100 as well as carrier-specificletter branding that apparently is being phased out- is outdated, and has been pulled down primarily for that reason.

I tend to go with the third explanation.

What do you think?
