EXCLUSIVE: October 7-8 BlackBerry 8200 QWERTY CameraBerry or Wi-Fi BlackBerry launch date clues in these pix, docs?

A most curious set of documents went up on the Federal Communications Commission website this afternoon.

The documents pertain to a BlackBerry device with the FCC ID of "L6ARBF20CW."

Skeletal documentation is up there now, but as I will show you, key identifying literature, such as User Manuals and External Photos, are under embargo @ Research In Motion's request until October 7 or 8.

If you are wondering why I have wrote "or," it is not that I am being imprecise. It's just that I found two separate "exhibit summary lists," as the FCC calls them. This makes me think we could be talking about two very similar, but non-identical, User Manuals. Extrapolating from this clue, we could be talking about two branded BlackBerry 8200's released by different carriers with different labels and perhaps a Manual tweak or two.

Anyway, it is on to the pix.

At the top, that's from this page. I drew the arrow to the peeper at the back of the BlackBerry. I am wondering if that is some sort of a viewfinder for the camera component.

But when you look elsewhere on the page I just linked to, you see something that gives you pause:

Why is this called the "Electron?" That was the in-the-oven code name for the 8700. But if we stick to our 8200 CameraBerry thesis, we can assume that the 8200 is based on the 8700 design, and has a similar keyboard and form factor. So what this could be is a camera-equipped BlackBerry inside the legacy 8700 (i.e. Electron) shell. What has me thinking about this possibly pointing to a pair of 8200 releases is in other documentation you'll see when you click below.

I hate to have to ask you to squint, but even if you click here, you will see an acknowledged request for the FCC to suppress the User Manual, Internal, and External Device docs on this until October 8.

But wait just a second. Now I am going to show you a similar, but not identical Exhibits Summary List for the same device- i.e. FCC ID L6ARBF20CW. Take a look just below or here for a larger view, and then let us discuss what we see.

The embargoed documentation is the same size as in the earlier screencap I showed you, but bears a requested October 7 release date rather than October 8.

The same size for the User Manual tells me it is essentially the same documents. But the differing release dates could very well mean two devices, two carriers, one with a 24-hour exclusivity window.

And could these two devices be two BlackBerry 8200s-identical but for carrier livery?

One more possibility: Boy Genius also talks about a Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry owing to the 8700 form factor. He believes this iteration is a bit closer to completion than the QWERTY CameraBerry. Because the testing has already been completed, and the Electron name lives on in this documentation, this could be what we are looking at here.

These next few months will be real interesting.
