Wireless software developer Sona Mobile Holdings has just announced it is launching a BlackBerry Media Player software application that will offer multimedia applications on newer Blackberry devices.
BlackBerry Media Player has been designed for what Sona terms "near TV quality playback of synchronized video and audio files. We'll get our first look at this at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium in Orlando, on May 16-18. This application will be showcased at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium May 16-18, 2006 in Orlando, Florida, in conjunction with Sona's first client, CanWest Global.
Details are sketchy up until then, but here's what we know. The first of what Sona deems "BerryCast" (Podcasts wirelessly updated) as well as streaming video will be offered by CanWest MediaWorks. They will offer daily news content for a branded Sona Mobile BerryCast that lets RIM customers take advantage of a download-and-play method of delivering multimedia files to BlackBerry devices.

1. Apparently, Sona isn't the first to develop a media player for th Blackberry.
Movidity - looks ot be a Canadian company, has a news release posted on their website about a BB 8700 and Treo media player system.
