RIM trading day an "unchanged melody"

With no major patent-dispute related news happening today, the stock price of BlackBerry maker Research In Motion stayed virtually unchanged in quiet trading.

Not that today didn't bring some peaks and valleys. As you can see on the trading chart, there was a price spike around 1 p.m. ET. But that spike soon ebbed, and the day ended similar to the way it started.

Here's where things stand at trading's end:

Nasdaq (RIMM)- $70.67 a share, down all of 2 cents (-0.03%) from Friday's $70.69 a share close. In contrast to the last few days, trading was fairly slow. Less than 2.1 million shares changed hands, compared to RIM's three-month average daily trading volume of 5.8 million shares (an average swelled by last Wednesday's amazing 18 million-plus-share trading day).

Toronto Stock Exchange (RIM)- $81.00(CDN) a share, down 18 cents (-0.22%) from Friday's $82.30 (CDN) a share final.
