All over the Blogosphere, pundits are posting their "Ten Predictions for 2006."
Well, OK, then- here are my Ten BlackBerry predictions for 2006:
- T-Mobile will be next with a BlackBerry 8700, probably in the March time frame.
- BlackBerry will work on more devices that will be Wi-Fi and perhaps even VoIP, compliant.
- After much reluctance on the part of RIM, a consumer-friendly BlackBerry device with at least some MP3 and camera capability will be released before the end of the year.
- The Research In Motion-NTP patent dispute will be settled, with a small escrow payment on the part of RIM, but with the two parties agreeing to a resolution contingent on the final findings of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Pundits will continue to refer to every new PDA and BlackBerry-like app as a "BlackBerry-killer"- without knowing what they are writing about.
- Journalists will keep on writing about celebrities' "BlackBerry use," employing the term "BlackBerry" as a generic descriptor. Hey folks, that's a trademarked term.
- More BlackBerry Connect deals will be announced, including some surprising ones with manufacturers of competing devices.
- RIM's Mike Lazaridis will step back from his Co-CEO role, and be chair of the company.
- By the end of the next fiscal quarter on March 4, 2006, RIM will have picked up another 720,000 subscribers and report revenue of $612 million.
- At least one of my ten predictions will be wrong.
What are your predictions? Let's see some comments!
