The Reuters news service reports today that patent-holding company NTP- involved in a long-running dispute with BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion, might like to see BlackBerry service preserved for government agencies even if the serviceis interrupted due to the patent tiff.In court papers filed yesterday, NTP suggested that that wireless carriers providing BlackBerry service might draw up a "white list" of government users who would be exempt from interruption of service.
"The government agreed to investigate the feasibility and transition period of NTP's alternative approach expeditiously so that it could be addressed in connection with any proposed injunction," Reuters reports that NTP lawyers said in their filing."
