A BBHub reader has just forwarded me the text of an invitation he says he has received to attend a November 1 event where the the new BlackBerry 8700c will be "unveiled."
The reader -who asked that we not use his name- says the invite indicates the event will be held at multimedia event space Tribute NYC, and will feature celebrity guest Lance Armstrong, as well as guests from Cingular and BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion.
Guess what. I called Tribute NYC and confirmed the event. It is legit.
Here's the text of the invite:
"Your evening at Tribute NYC begins with a reception to unveil the new BlackBerry
8700c, where you will have the opportunity to mingle with RIM and Cingular
executives. This unique experience concludes with a special presentation from
celebrity guest Lance Armstrong, who will talk about how the new BlackBerry
8700c helps his business and his life run better.
November 1st 6pm."
.
By the way, Lance Armstrong's touting of BlackBerry seems to dovetail with fiance Sheryl Crow dedicating a song to BlackBerry on her concert tour. In interviews, the pair has mentioned that when they were first getting to know each other, they used their BlackBerrys to stay in touch.
