Found an entertaining and informative review of the BlackBerry 7100g on "doug's blog" section of ThePodForce.com.Doug writes that he's now had the "chance to try out the Blackberry 7100g with Cingular - so far I like it. I had the Blackberry 7290 before and to be honest, it kinda sucked," he confesses. "The keypad was nice for typing messages but it was really too wide to be comfortable and it rebooted itself many times each day.
"The 7100 has a much nicer and brighter screen but it is unreadable in bright sunlight," he continues. "It has more interesting ring tones built in and since you can't add new ones, thats a good thing. The 7290 pretty much beeped only."
The only other problem Doug had with the BlackBerry 7100g was that "the mic just quit working and no one could hear me - a battery out reboot (for 30 min) fixed the problem," he informs us. "We'll see if it reoccurs."

1. Thanks for checking out my humble site (thepodforce.com)! I'm still enjoying the 7100, but am on my second one now. The mic on this one also will randomly stop working from time to time, but not nearly as often as the first one I had.
I read that you could upload your own MIDI ring tones to the 7290, but no matter what I uploaded to it, they all sounded like the same beep to me. Maybe I had a bad one, or just didn't do it right - as a Blackberry newby, thats possible.
I like the ringtones of the 7100 MUCH better. In fact, except for not being able to read the screen in bright daylight, I love the 7100 - as long as my mic works! Thanks.
