In many religious traditions, worship services are led by clergy members who, with a Holy Book in hand, refer to passages that either pronounce a prayer or underscore a point being made in a sermon. Not so Rev. Ted Haggard, president of 11,000-member, Colorado Springs, Col.-based New Life Church and president of the 30-million member National Association of Evangelicals.
Rather than consult his Holy Bible for every reference and citation he makes during his sermon, Rev. Haggard relies on his BlackBerry. That's where he stores Scripture verses for worship services at his 8,000-seat Worship Center.
When Rev. Haggard- generally a theological conservative but one with some stances not always asssociated with conservative Evangelicals - wishes to cite a specific verse he has them projected on the New Life Church's six giant screens.
